Overview

Accessible, interactive educational installations in public spaces often require novel approaches to engage diverse users.
Plant Intelligence is an interactive installation situated in a public park, designed to provide accessible education on scientific topics. This prototype focuses on soil microbiology and uses a living plant as an interface to engage park visitors.

Leveraging voice assistance, the installation actively involves users in the learning experience, creating an engaging and immersive environment for exploring and studying scientific concepts.

Process

As an exploratory project, we used Arduino to prototype a voice-interactive installation. The goal was to experiment with voice interaction and accessibility concepts through rapid physical prototyping and user testing.

Research and development context

As the product is currently in its conceptual stage, further development of the object would be necessary to bring it to fruition. However, it is worth noting that we have received positive feedback from stakeholders and the general public, indicating a favorable response to the concept.
